Playroll is looking for a dynamic, impact-driven Operations Manager to join our Payroll Operations team. You'll help ensure smooth, accurate payroll execution for our global client base across 100+ countries, reporting into the Senior Operations Manager: Payroll. You'll own end-to-end payroll operations, making sure everything is accurate, compliant, and efficient across complex, fast-changing global payroll regulations. This is hands-on work where precision matters, and where you'll be constantly solving problems and improving how things run. What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end operational cycle across a portfolio of international territories, coordinating data flows, partners, and deadlines.
- Lead the resolution of complex and escalated issues across a live global operation.
- Manage relationships with internal teams and in-country partners across multiple jurisdictions.
- Hold partners and stakeholders accountable to agreed SLAs and performance expectations.
- Build a working command of the global payroll domain to coordinate moving parts confidently and spot risks early.
- Keep process documentation and knowledge bases accurate, useful, and up to date.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives from problem identification through to implementation.
- Deliver high-impact, deadline-driven projects under pressure and shifting priorities.
- Support the evolving needs of the business by taking on additional operational responsibilities as required.
- Guide and mentor junior team members without direct people management responsibility.
What You'll Bring
- Relevant tertiary qualification with 3 to 5 years of proven operational experience.
- Experience directly owning a process- and deadline-driven function.
- Strong ability to focus, execute, and deliver under pressure.
- Accountability for outcomes, with the initiative to fix issues without waiting to be told.
- Ability to bring structure to complex, multi-moving-part problems.
- Sound judgement under pressure and with incomplete information.
- Process improvement mindset, with the ability to redesign and improve systems.
- Ability to coach, support, and raise the standard of those around you.
- Strong affinity for technology, software, shortcuts, and scalable ways of working.
- Self-motivated, high-energy, positive approach suited to a collaborative startup team.
